Good decorating starts with good plaster
When painting or decorating your home it is important to make sure the walls are properly prepped, because that is what gives you a high-end interior finish. Paint is unforgiving — every hollow, ripple and old fixing hole shows up the moment the light catches it.

Surfaces
We plaster onto all of these
- Plaster walls
- Re-skimming tired or damaged existing plaster back to a flat surface.
- Dry walls
- Taping, filling and skimming plasterboard on new studwork and ceilings.
- Brick
- Bonding coat and skim, or boarded out where the wall needs insulating.
- Stone
- Older stone walls made good and brought level before finishing.
- Dot and dab plasterboard
- Boards fixed straight onto masonry, then jointed and skimmed.
We also do external rendering. If the outside of the property needs attention at the same time, our coloured rendering service can be booked into the same visit and saves scaffolding twice.
How It Works
What happens after you call
- 01
Free estimate
We come and look at the job, talk through what it actually needs, then price it in writing. No obligation and no charge for the visit.
- 02
Protect and prep
Floors and fittings are sheeted up, old or blown plaster comes off, and beads and boards go on where they are needed.
- 03
Coat and finish
Backing coats where required, then a skim finish worked flat and polished so it is ready for paint or paper.
- 04
Cleared and cleaned
Waste goes with us and the room is swept out. Several of our Google reviews mention this and we intend to keep it that way.

Larger projects run the same way, just with a team on site. Commercial refurbishments are programmed around your opening hours where we can.
Common Questions
Plastering questions
Answers to what people usually want to know before booking plastering work in.
- How long before I can paint newly plastered walls?
- Fresh plaster needs to dry right through before it takes paint, and how long that takes depends on the room, the season and how thick the coat is. We will tell you what to expect on your job before we leave, and what to use as a mist coat first.
- Can you get rid of Artex ceilings?
- Yes — either taking the Artex off and re-skimming the ceiling flat, or skimming straight over the top where removal is not practical. We will tell you which makes more sense once we have seen the texture and the ceiling underneath.
- Do I need to move out while you plaster?
- Almost never for a room or two. We sheet up, work room by room and keep the mess contained. For a whole-house re-plaster it is worth talking through the running order so you always have somewhere usable.
- What can you do about damp-damaged plaster?
- Once the cause of the water has been dealt with we strip out the failed plaster, let the wall dry and rebuild the surface. Patching over damp plaster without fixing the source just moves the problem a few months down the line.
